FELICITY KEEFE - BIOGRAPHY
"If postmodernism marked a ‘loss of the real’ the poetics of landscape and resurgence of interest in materiality can be seen as a dialogic response to that. In painting, the materiality of process has also been bound up with materiality of subject in recent years. Felicity Keefe’s work can be seen as a contemporary articulation of the romanticism of the expressive English landscape. The poetics of landscape evidenced in the work has a legacy and context that has crossed into a variety of visual discourses from the Romantic landscape artists of the 19th century to more modernist interpretations by the Nash brothers and artists like Ravillious to more contemporary visual interpretations of landscape by artists such as Peter Doig."
Dr Anna Middleton writing about Felicity Keefe’s work. 2013
